I work in the center of Paris, just a few steps from the Opera Garnier.
This month, the Mairie de Paris is launching its new bike renting program, called "Ve'lib", which should help with the jams I drive into every day with my Vespa.
This kind of renting system already exists in Berlin for a few years, and I remmeber the huge number of those Deutsche Bahn bikes in Berlin.
All that bla to explain how surprised I was last week when I saw this right in the street I'm working in...
First rule about parisian communism : public property tends to become private, as soon as it's movable to my flat.
I'm not sure the guy who "owns" the bike actually made it with his legs only from Berlin to Paris.
Who knows ?
Hey! I've also seen one right in front of my building in Karlsruhe (south of germany) yesterday!

@ Colin : correct me if I'm wrong but I think DB bikes are available in most major cities in Germany, but thanks anyway for the comment ;)
By the way, the DB bike is still in the area in Paris !
